1.JOB PURPOSE:
Responsible for developing, updating, and maintaining the
Interior design standards.
2. KEY RESULTS & ACCOUNTABILITIES
•Lead &
manage the preparation of design concept, feasibility design proposals to meet Buildings
and Facilities Department objectives and consider external clients’
requirements.
•As the Senior
interior designer, you will be responsible for managing the design functions on
projects as assigned including liaising with the clients and other departments.
•Managing
the Interior Design Process and to ensure that designs comply with the
objectives of client.
•Meet with
Client to determine all Requirements & Needs.
•Design
& Create solutions preparing (Sketches, mood boards, concept design, Plans
& Specifications).
•Develop
presentations, which may include drawings, sketches, renderings, perspectives,
and color and material boards.
•Prepare
working drawings and specifications for implementing the design (including
materials, finishes, joinery work
and furnishings.
•Collaborate with professional and technical consultants
(mechanical, electrical and structural engineers, architects, audio-visual
consultants).
•Report timescales & progress to the manager related to
design finalization.
•Manage a team of designers, drafters and 3D visualizers for
the technical details and guide them on all design matters.
•Provide a weekly report to the Section Manager for the
projects assigned and design issues and changes.
•Discuss price quotations for designs using standard pricing
schemes and including options for using different materials with projects.
•Preparing the scope of work and timeline for team and
drawings and conceptual details.
•Consider materials, effects, and costs, liaise with
suppliers, arrange samples and prepare specifications & sample Boards.
•Ensure that all requirements have been explicitly and
clearly specified and incorporated into the Project Requirements Document.
•Attend coordination
meetings concerning all design
matters.
•Monitor, manage, and supervise interior designs and planning
issues to ensure design is cost effective, fit for purpose and value for money.
•Do coordination meetings with other consultants.
•Check drawing packages before issuance to owners and site.
•Following up preparing the material list, sample boards.
•Nominate suppliers and contractors according to the design
and materials selected by the client.
•Manage and control the sizing efforts, and to ensure that
the correct level of service is chosen for each project.
•Manage and review the lighting and acoustics design.
•Provide necessary supports to other Departments during
post-contract stage for the best interest of the client.
•Ensure effective communication between the Engineer,
contractor, third parties and stakeholders and that established communication procedures
are followed to resolve any design issues.
•Support and
involvement in all design review until the designs are approved as requested.
•Review of
third-party design proposals for works to Buildings and Facilities
Department’s
assets to assess compliance with established standards and check that they
contribute to the achievement of Buildings and Facilities Department’s goals.
•Provide a professional,
cost-effective interior design services to other client Departments.
•Lead &
manage the procurement and management of interior design consultants and
contractors.
•Lead, manage
& review the tender documents and interior design submittals of all the
buildings within client projects.
•Provide
input to the project terms of reference & in the evaluation of the bidders.
•Provide
supports to the development, implementation and maintenance of the Buildings
and Facilities Department interior design standards and guidelines.
•Assist in
the prequalification of consultants & contractors as well as in the
preparation of project plans, and specifications.
•Manage the
specifications of all the finishes & accessories including but not limited
to flooring, ceiling, wall finishes, other equipment’s, furniture, Ironmongery,
doors, etc.
•Ensure fire,
health; safety and environmental regulations are adhered to the design of new
projects.
•Ensure that
interior designs are coordinated with structures, E&M and other disciplines,
to ensure that it is within client standards and international best practice.
•To carry out
inspection visits to sites to ensure that the work is according to the approved
drawings & materials. To prepare and submit inspection report to the
management when needed.
•To review
& approve methods statements submitted by the engineers/contractors.
•Manage and facilitate design competitions held by the department.
•Bachelor’s degree in interior design from a recognized university required.
•Minimum 7-10 Years of experience in related fields.
•Excellent knowledge and intensive experience in corporate projects.
•Excellent design, presentational skills & freehand drafting including use of CAD, PowerPoint.
