Stantec’s CIT team is supported by highly qualified, self-dependent and motivated designers/engineers equipped with an in-depth knowledge of the local MENA region market (GGC countries in particular) and are also well familiar with international codes and guidelines to confidently take on challenging projects. Our proficient and highly qualified team is experienced in various types of projects, project modeling, and the latest technology allowing the team to offer a multitude of Civil, Infrastructure and Transportation services on Stantec ventures.
Stantec in Dubai, UAE has an immediate opening for a Roads Engineer to join our dynamic team.
Primary Job Role:
Responsible for the design of roads, profiling/grading, road marking/signage, setting out, cross sections, pavement design, service roads, parking lots design, incorporating tunnels and complex grade separation interchanges including Authority approvals.
Responsibilities:
• Apply high standards of quality in preparing the necessary design documents throughout the project phases from concept stage presentations through to detailed construction drawings.
• Preparation of the preliminary design through to the final design of road geometry, signage and marking, ancillary works of major urban and inter-urban road projects, incorporating tunnels, complex grade separation interchanges, and service roads, investigation of alternatives, route selection and preparation of the main items of bill quantities.
• Assign work to supporting engineers, supervise and review their output.
• Work proactively with the multidisciplinary design team, liaise with sub-consultants and coordinate with local authorities to ensure coordinated, satisfactory, and high-quality submissions.
• Responsible for the submission, discussion and follow up with local authorities to obtain Road Design approvals, permits and No-Objection Certificates (NOCs) in coordination with Stantec’s local authority/Stakeholder Engineer.
• Support and work closely with the traffic team on the production of Traffic Impact Study (TIS) reports and plans to obtain approval from the concerned authorities.

• Ensures all project tasks are delivered on time as agreed with project or team leader.
• With assistance, manages the progress of smaller projects by monitoring and reviewing project outputs to ensure client brief and expectations, budgets and timeframes are met.
Initiative and General:
• Actively participates in team meetings/activities to discuss ways to achieve better results.
• Applies appropriate Stantec design/technical tools QA/QC processes and guidelines to all tasks.
• Assists in the preparation of Proposal bids and submissions.
• Responds appropriately to performance feedback.
• Attends seminars, lectures, private research and reading of current design and technical literature – towards an aim of achieving professional status.


Qualifications
• Minimum 10 years of experience in a similar field with a proven track records in road design including 3 years of current experience in the UAE.
• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering – a Master’s degree would be an added advantage.
• In-depth working knowledge of the local authority procedure, standards and regulations in UAE is essential.
• Dands-on experienced in authority NOC/ permit/approval processes in UAE is essential.
• Proficiency in Microsoft office suites and Adobe products.
• Extensive hands-on experience in Auto CAD, Micro station, Civil 3D, MX Roads.
• Revit design experience would be an added advantage.
• Road Safety Audit Certificates would be an added advantage.
• Ability to multitask and meet deadlines.
• Experience in Traffic modeling and the production of TIS reports would be an added advantage.
• Commitment to thrive in a proactive organization where client service is second to none.
• Experience in construction inspection, contract administration and project management.
• Excellent organizational, communication and presentation skills.
• Inter discipline coordination and a good team player.
