Job Description

To accept, appraise and replenish the respective Emergency Medical Kits (EMKs) and First Aid Kits (FAKs) on and off aircraft received from various units across the Group as well as external customers, ensuring proper storage and handling as per the DHA, GCAA and IATA guidelines. All kits are to be vigilantly appraised and taken record of to ensure an accurate audit trail of usage and replenishment of the items contained within, which include controlled lifesaving drugs. 
Job Outline:


  • Maintain comprehensive, up-to-date records of external details of the kits received by the unit. Specifics recorded would include the type of kit, part number, serial number and the reason for their return. Any breakage of or, in the kit box has to be recorded and escalated to the appropriate management.
  • Appraise each kit received for usage and content details: The drug usage form signed by the relevant authority or a Doctor on the aircraft has to be seen prior to physically checking every single item to identify used items (both recorded and unrecorded), quantity of remaining items and the expiry date(s). These details are required in case of any recall or legal issues. Ensure all used sharps and biohazards (e.g.needles and soiled items) are disposed of in the allocated disposal container for later incineration.
  • Ensure timely and accurate recording of information from the drug usage forms to the database, this includes drug reports and voyage reports, for every replenished kit. This is of great importance in case of investigations into the treatment of passengers on board and insurance or legal issues that arise thereon. 
  • Independently review, assemble and replenish the contents of the kits as received within the agreed service level agreement as established with the receiving internal/external stakeholder. All improper or unsanctioned usage of the drugs or medical consumables will need to be documented and escalated to GMT, Pharmacy and Service Delivery for corrective action accordingly.
  • Assess each kit for damages and take appropriate action: The kit has to be carefully inspected for regular wear and tear and breakage. Damaged kits are repaired in-house or overseas, as appropriate. Follow-up may be required to ensure return of the kit after repairs.
  • In liaison with the EMK supervisor, monitor the drug and medical consumables stock within the EMK unit and follow up on outstanding orders to ensure an adequate reserve is maintained.
  • Update all content lists maintained and communicate any changes to the concerned internal/external stakeholders (EK Engineering, Corporate Building Administration, Group Medical Training, Fly Dubai and Air Wing).
  • Closely monitor kit stocks and prepare new kits as needed in preparation for increased requirements, such as new aircrafts introduced onto the fleet.
  • Support the Pharmacy unit in stock taking and storage of medication received from suppliers.
  • Consolidate the monthly statistical reports for management. Reports include the kit movement report, ,Controlled Drug Usage, Commonly used drugs to Group Medical Training to assist with training and drug placement.
