Job Description

The Buildings and Facilities Department is seeking a dynamic and proactive individual to fill the role of Inspection Engineer - Health and Safety (HSE Officer). This position plays a critical role in ensuring the safety and well-being of employees, contractors, and visitors within our facilities and construction sites. The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing and maintaining health and safety protocols, conducting inspections, and providing technical support to enhance our overall safety performance.


Health and Safety Compliance 

Ensure compliance with local regulations, industry standards, and company policies related to health and safety.

Conduct regular inspections and audits of facilities, construction sites, and equipment to identify potential hazards and ensure adherence to safety protocols.

Develop and implement safety procedures, guidelines, and training programs to promote a safe working environment.

2.Risk Assessment and Mitigation:

Conduct risk assessments for various activities, projects, and work areas to identify potential hazards and develop appropriate mitigation measures.

Collaborate with project teams to integrate safety considerations into project planning, design, and execution phases.

Provide technical guidance and recommendations to minimize risk and prevent accidents/incidents.

3.Incident Investigation and Reporting:

Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses to determine root causes and contributing factors.

Prepare detailed incident reports, including recommendations for corrective actions and preventative measures.

Monitor and track corrective actions to ensure timely resolution and prevent recurrence.

4.Contractor Management:

Evaluate the health and safety performance of contractors, consultants, and service providers during prequalification, selection, and contract execution phases. Review contractor safety plans, method statements, and risk assessments to ensure alignment with project requirements and industry standards.

Conduct periodic site visits and inspections to monitor contractor compliance with safety regulations and contractual obligations.

5.Training and Awareness:

Develop and deliver training sessions, toolbox talks, and safety awareness campaigns to promote a culture of safety among employees and contractors.

Provide guidance and support to departmental staff on health and safety best practices, procedures, and emergency response protocols.




Requirements• Bachelor’s degree in engineering.

• Previous experience in a similar role within the construction or facilities management industry is preferred.

• Knowledge in health and safety regulations, codes, and standards.

• Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess risks and develop effective mitigation strategies.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact with diverse stakeholders.

• Certification in Occupational Health and Safety (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH) is desirable.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and familiarity with safety management systems/software.

• Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to various project sites as needed.
