Job Description

Job Purpose / Objective


Responsible for supporting the HMG’s safety program at respective HMG hospital and manage the promotion and maintenance of safe and healthy working conditions and recommends measures to reduce or eliminate accident and health hazards in compliance with local and international standards.


Key Responsibilities / Accountabilities


  • Serve as a technical expert on environmental safety and conduct environmental safety inspections to ensure compliance with applicable standards.
  • Conduct safety audits of hospital building, facilities, tools and equipment.
  • Determine safety training requirements and provide employees with safety training applicable to their work processes.
  • Investigate employee complaints and suggestions regarding hazardous conditions.
  • Investigate accidents to determine the root cause, circumstances and contributing factors.
  • Develop recommendations and follow-up to prevent accident recurrence.
  • Maintain comprehensive knowledge of government safety regulations.
  • Responsible for safety orientation, safety training, job site inspections and reporting.
  • Maintain a thorough knowledge of National Fire Code, laws regulating safety in hospital, JCIA and CBAHI standards working environment applicable to the department and notify the Management for any non-compliance.
  • Report and investigate incidents, injuries and hazards and implement approved control measures.
  • Prepare and implement the Incident Action Plan for safety implications.
  • Exercise emergency authority to prevent or stop unsafe acts.
  • Ensure optimum equipment function and the reporting of all malfunctions; authorized directly to the FMS Manager for report and preventive Maintenance Activities of all equipment.
  • Maintain an awareness of potential hazard involve in fire and other related activities.
  • Coordinate a program for department to survey ward, department, or housing for occupational safety and health hazards.
  • Maintain liaison with department heads regarding recommended changes in equipment and procedures and recommended methods to eliminate unsafe practices and reduce existing hazardous condition.
  • Schedule and manage the periodic testing of fire suppression system and fire alarm system and hospital evaluation and safety equipment.
  • Maintain records of all recommendations made and action taken to implement or correct safety and health procedures, accident prevention measures, unsafe practices and health hazards.
  • Participate in person-centered care initiatives undertaken by HMG.
  • Enrich patient experience with compassion, respect and dignity.
  • Performs all other tasks/duties assigned within the realm of his/her knowledge, skills and abilities.

Education/ Professional Qualification


  • Educational         :               Bachelor’s Degree/Equivalent.
  • Professional       :               Any discipline, preferably Public Safety or Fire Prevention

Experience


  • At least 3 year’s experiences in the same field.

Professional Licensing / Certification / Training


  • Certification       :               Public, Fire & Safety related certifications
  • Licensing              :               N/A
