Job Role / Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Lab Manager and Director, CRM, the Research Associate will contribute to the designing of research projects by advising faculty, researchers, post-doc fellows and graduate students and offering professional support service of international standards. They will be an integral part of the facilities and will work with their peers to create an internationally comparable research culture.

The individual will also perform a varied set of responsibilities including some specific responsibilities mentioned below: 

• Independently operating and maintaining one or more core facilities including
  • Pathology

Sample Preparation: Basic steps, Fixation, Special process such as decalcification, Tissue trimming, Tissue processing & embedding, Sectioning, Frozen Sample Preparation & Sectioning, Staining, Cover slipping, IHC, Light Microscopy.

• • FACS/Flow Cytometry

Experiment designing, Specimen handling and preparations, Staining (Intra/extra cellular, cell components etc.), Instrument calibration, standardization and proficiency testing, Data acquisition, sorting and analysis (e.g.: content analysis, proliferation etc.). Extensive hands-on experience with flow cytometer(s) (diagnostics and research both)

• Following (where available) and/or developing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) related to the core facilities.
• Undertaking regular (e.g., weekly maintenance) of all the equipment in the core and assist in quarterly preventive maintenance with Bio-Medical Engineering Department.
• Conducting daily, weekly, and monthly inventory of consumables required for smooth operation of core/s.
• Assisting and advising faculty, researchers, post-graduates, and graduate students in designing projects.
• Logging and recording all the communications, transactions, and maintenance schedule in a systematic and orderly manner.
• Maintaining database of all projects.
• Operating the service on a fee for service basis.
• Carrying out duties assigned by the Lab Manager and Director, CRM.

Eligibility Criteria / Requirements:

You should have:

• Master’s degree with two years of experience in the field of biological science research.
• Experience in operating one or more core facilities.
• Strong organizational skills with ability to handle multiple tasks assigned by the Lab Manager and Director, CRM.
• Competent in computer usage with command over Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
• Sound communication skills: fluent in English speaking and writing.
• Strong interpersonal and mediation skills.
