Job Description

The Opportunity:









.

Under moderate supervision, implement strategies to minimize the number of occupational injuries and illnesses. Ensure regulatory compliance with local, state, and federal agency rules including but not limited to OSHA and EPA regulations. Acts as a liaison between Avantor and various regulatory agencies.


What we're looking for:


Education: B E / Diploma (Mechanical/Electrical/Chemical) or B.Sc. / M.Sc. (Chemistry / Environment/ Fire & Safety) with Diploma Industrial Safety from State Government affiliated Institute.


Experience: 3– 5 years of experience Chemical manufacturing industry especially solvent handling companies.


Other Skills: Skills/Competencies: Preferred Skills/Qualifications:


  • Able to resolve the EHS related issues or problems at shop floor.


  • Able to Communicate in English and local language.


  • Experience on handling ETP, STP, RO & MEE etc.


  • Should be aware of waste disposal techniques


  • Experience of HAZOP, Risk Assessment, JSA and Safety audits.


  • Should have knowledge of laisoning requirements of the GPCB & Factory Inspector officials.


  • Experience of Work Permit system, quality and suitability of PPEs. He should have experience of Safe handling of chemicals - MSDS, Electrostatic hazards, Toxic, corrosive chemicals etc.


  • Aware for documentation related to all norms of Environment Health & Safety.


  • Capable of Conduct Classroom trainings, Virtual trainings, on-job trainings, Induction trainings on various EHS topics. Capable to trained employees on Fire fighting.


  • Able to conduct Safety committee Meeting and able to arrange Other Employee Engagement activities like Safety Week Celebration, Reward & Recognition program, Environment Day celebration and observance of Fire service day.


  • Capable to do Incident/ Accident Investigation and different method of Route cause analysis.


  • Experience in a Health, Safety & Environment department of a Chemical manufacturing company. 


  • Computer Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Power point.


  • Ready to work in shift Hours.


How you will thrive and create an impact:


  • Responsible for adherence to the safety procedures with respect to chemical handling plant at the site and will report non-compliance of the safety procedures


  • Participate in HAZOP analysis, safety audits, and Risk Assessment / Job Safety Analysis for all the process activities based on requirement. 


  • Work permit System: Sound Knowledge of Work permit System, responsible for issuance of Work permits as per site requirement.


  • Safe Operating Procedure (SOP’s): Responsible to ensure compliance of Safe Operating procedures at site.


  • Knowledge of Process Safety Management System & responsible to ensure Process Safety Management (PSM) requirement at site.


  • Maintain ISO and implementation of other operating system into the department. Responsible for the efficient working of zero discharge system of wastewater treatment plant and compliance to zero discharge norms.


  • Incident/Accident Investigation: Experience of Incident/ Accident Investigation and different method of Route cause analysis.


  • Member of the emergency response team and will guide and train other team members in case of emergency.  Mock drill Rehearsal as per statutory requirements.


  • Safety Committee Meeting: Conduct Safety Committee Meeting as per statutory requirement and its compliance follow up.


  • Experience to Maintain Zero Liquid Discharge Norms (ZLD).


  • Responsible for adherence to all statutory norms (Air, Liquid & Solid) Maintain the stock of necessary spares, equipment and instruments required for the uninterrupted working of the department and ensure that the operating personnel use all PPEs as required.


  • Training Program: Conduct Classroom trainings, on-job trainings, Induction trainings on various EHS topics & Train and supervise the working of all operators working in ETP department.


  • Monitor and record the waste generation & disposal at the site – department wise in shifts.


  • Ensure regulatory compliance related to Environment Health & Safety.
