Position Summary



Assistant Manager - Financial Accounting and Control will be responsible for managing the financial accounting and control related services provided by the finance CoE to the subsidiaries of the London Stock Exchange Group. The role is focused on managing the centralised services provided to the Group, process improvement, building resilience and working with key stakeholders to on board new activities. The successful candidate will hold a pivotal role in the Finance CoE team and require project management skills, technical skills, and the ability to proactively manage key stakeholder relationships.


Role Responsibilities


  • Performs specialized, technical lead functions in assembling, calculating, verifying and reconciling payroll, employee benefit and fiscally related information and data.
  • Reconcile general ledger with regard to payroll transaction.
  • Prepares payroll, employee benefit, and other fiscally related record analyses.
  • Participate in payroll balance sheet and cost reviews.
  • Initiates collaboration and communication with business stakeholders to ensure payroll data is accounted accurately, completely and timely.
  • Participate in year-end procedures and liability reports, including accruals.
  • Maintains critical internal control functions to support strong fiscal responsibility.   
  • Liaise with auditors on Group & SOX audits.
  • Possess strong communication and interpersonal skills to successfully interact and get the work done within timelines by third party Vendor.
  • Reviews results and other issues related to third party and ensure timely correction.
  • Work with the line of business to highlight and escalate any gaps to resolve any deficiencies or outstanding issues.
  • Liaise with General Accounting team and provide guidance.
  • Perform Reviewer role for process activities and ensure accuracy and completeness.

Preferred Skills and Experience


  • Having professional accounting degree with minimum 5 years of experience in General Accounting.
  • Background in finance shared services would be an added advantage.
  • Candidates with part qualification/ degree and relevant experience also considered.
  • Experience in managing a similar scope will be an added advantage.
  • Experience of using SAP/Oracle/Oracle Fusion and Blackline accounting systems.
  • Experience in SAP will be an added advantage.

Strong track record in:


  • Financial accounting in a large organization
  • Strong understanding of accounting concepts
  • Experience of dealing with senior stakeholders and reporting to tight deadlines
  • Ability to manage a large team.
  • Experience of managing cross geography relationships
  • Have strong excel skills and be confident managing complex spreadsheets to ensure accurate reporting.
  • Have a strong track record in standardizing processes and documentation.
  • Be a lead proponent of driving a collaborative culture and approach to working across finance.
  • Ability to scope and shape role while adapting to fast changing environment.
  • Strong process orientation, with ability to design and operate robust reporting frameworks.
  • Ability to build strong working relationships with global colleagues.
  • Maximizes opportunities, i.e. challenges ways of working, adopts Group practices, seeks and provides information and clarification.
  • Effective oral and written communication that resonates with the target audience.
  • Utilizes all available resources and toolsets to investigate and resolve problems and ensures the most appropriate solution is identified.
  • Strong planning and prioritizing skills according to business needs.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English.
  • Ability to work according to UK work hours.
