Job Summary:



The Cost Manager - MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing) is responsible for providing expert assistance in all cost management procedures related to MEP systems in projects. This role requires a deep understanding of construction costs, estimating, and budgeting for MEP installations. The Cost Manager - MEP will work closely with project teams and clients to ensure that MEP costs are accurately estimated, controlled, and monitored throughout the project lifecycle. This position requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a broad understanding of MEP systems.

What this job involves:



Knowledge Management: Stay up-to-date with industry trends, advancements, and best practices in MEP cost management. Share knowledge and provide guidance to project teams on cost control measures and methodologies. Cost Estimating: Prepare cost estimates and budget forecasts for MEP systems based on project specifications, drawings, and scope of work. Utilize relevant industry standards and cost databases to ensure accurate estimates.
Cost Control: Monitor and control MEP costs throughout the project lifecycle. Review and analyze change orders, variations, and additional works to ensure cost implications are in line with project budgets and client expectations. Cost Reporting: Generate regular cost reports to track and communicate project cost variances and potential risks. Collaborate with the project team to develop effective cost-control strategies and identify cost-saving opportunities. Value Engineering: Identify opportunities for value engineering to optimize MEP system costs while maintaining quality and performance. Collaborate with design teams and contractors to propose cost-effective alternatives without compromising project requirements. Tender Evaluation: Participate in the evaluation of tender submissions and assist in the selection process of MEP contractors. Review and assess contractor proposals, cost breakdowns, and proposed methodologies to ensure competitiveness and accuracy. Contract Management: Support contract negotiations and review contract documents related to MEP works. Ensure that all cost elements are clearly defined, and potential cost risks are identified and mitigated.

Desired skills and experience for this:



Previous experience working in the Middle East
Degree in a related subject (BSc Quantity Surveying)
MRICS would be advantageous but not essential.
Experience pre and post-contract in project/program delivery teams.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in cost management, specifically in MEP systems.
In-depth knowledge of MEP systems, construction methods, and materials.
Use CostX, Excel and other Microsoft Office programs to an advanced level
Knowledge of local regulations and standards for MEP installations in KSA is preferred
